Animal of the Day

The New Zealand Kakapo

The Kakapo is a critically endangered, flightless, nocturnal parrot. The males grow to about 60 cm (2') tall. Their mating call is a boom (which sounds a bit like an emu boom to me). Wiki has a rather comprehensive rundown on the Kakapo including conservation measures.

Ah, a cock-a-poo in our country is a cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle. The result looks nothing like your kakapo. ;)
