Don't just tell someone that you love them, show them - treat them with respect, pay attention, spoil them every now and then, remember birthdays, don't hit them, don't run them down, show little courtesies - if you are going to be late then ring, thank them for things - cooking or cleaning or for being special or just for being. And don't forget to say "I love you" :-)
