I found another bird in the tree outside my window. I would describe it as a small, blue-green kingfisher shaped bird. I didn't hear its voice.
I have a great website that has never let me down but I stumped with this one. It was definitely a kingfisher shape (I am sure of that cos it was the same shape as a kookaburra) and the color appeared to be all over - as opposed to a wing color or a band or whatever.
Does anyone have any ideas?

rainbow bee eater? (also known as rainbow bird)
You might have noticed I have a Bird site heeeheee. Sounds like it could be an Azure Kingfisher which has the least banding and found in your area. Younger Kingfishers have less banding so easily mistaken for something else. I saw a Forest Kingfisher last week which was exciting! It won't be posted on my blog until WINTER but I could always email to a photo. (they are a bit blury) The Rainbow Bee-eater has a much finer, pointy curved bill - if that's what your bird had. They are a lot less banded when immature unlike the very banded adults.
I have seen a photo and I am sure it wasn't the Rainbow Bird Eater so I am off to check the Azure Kingfisher.
And yes Anony, I did forget you had a bird site. doh!
Hmm, no I don't think the the Azure Kingfisher is the one (although I wish it was - it is incredible!) - the bird is more blue than mine and I am sure I would have seen the orange chest... BUT when googling it I saw a photo of a Sacred Kingfisher which is it!
The photo on the original site didn't look my bird but the photo at http://www.answers.com/topic/sacred-kingfisher is a great match!
Thanks y'all - muchly appreciated :-)
