Yes I Have A New Lime Tree

Yes I have a native lime - re-potted it this morning. No there is no more room for pots on my porch (especially after I bought the gardenias) but I know I have said that before :-) There is a tiny fruit on the tree which I am hoping will explode into an adult sized fruit but it may also be there to tempt me ....

I was expecting something that looked more like a regular citrus tree and as such was surprised at the small leaves. But if you think about it, it is perfectly logical for Australia.

So this is my 'before' photo. I will keep you posted - not only with it's growth and fruiting habits but also with all of the delicious recipes I am yet to invent that will cater for the fruit and the exploding balls of flavor!

mmmm...me too! My favourite add on telly at the moment is the guy who has eaten the lime and pepper crisps, and is loading a glass of water with more lime than it will hold, apparently after you eat these crisps there can never be enough flavour!! How big are the fruit on a native lime?

The 'proper' name is Microcitrus australasica - it is available in red, pink, green, yellow and purple fruit. The fruit grown to be about the size of a man's thumb and is more like little balls of caviar than a segmented fruit (like an orange). Mine cost $25.
