Not A Knot?

I painted a picture of a tree knot (this is only a snap shot - not a shot that will appear in the catalogue). I know I painted it in blue and I know that my paintings are abstract and I guess I should just get over it all but ...

I have just had another person insistent that it is a painting of the universe. You can guess that this has happened before.

Now normally I am very open to people interpreting my art (or any art for that matter) in whatever way they see it and I guess I am only put out (slightly) because I 'invented' a new technique that would capture the texture of the tree knot (which obviously doesn't translate here). No that can't be it ....

So why does it bug me that people don't look at a blue painting about 5 foot tall and see, obviously, it is a tree knot.

I really have to get over myself :-/

"I love the story of the little girl who showed her teacher a picture she painted of a tree. The tree was purple. The teacher said, "Sweetheart, I've never seen a purple tree, now have I?"

"Oh?" said the little girl. "That's too bad."

Hi Mountaingirl! Thought I'd have a sneak around your place and make a comment right here :) I saw a knot in a tree! HA! But it also reminded me of the sea and THIS painting. That was until I found the link to the painting which had been digitally chopped up for online. HAHA. I also used a 'special' technique for texture in the original painting. Your art is great!
