Do you reckon I can do the Sydney AND Brisbane shows :-) BTW Anony, who has the BIGGEST smile at the moment ... oh that might be me (.... although I am no longer counting disparaging laughter as anything like a smile ha ha ha)The 60-year-old has been diagnosed as having an inter-vocal cord cyst, and will undergo four to six weeks of vocal therapy before doctors decide whether he needs surgery, according to a statement on his website.
The singer, who cancelled his European tour, has postponed his Australian tour dates, which were announced just last week.
"KMW Productions, the Promoters of the Meat Loaf - The Three Bats Tour scheduled for February 2008, regret to announce that the tour has been re-scheduled for later in 2008. Stay tuned for further announcements," his Australian promoters said in a release.
The Bat Out of Hell singer has scrapped several British dates on the Three Bats tour since last week, when he walked off stage in the northern English city of Newcastle.
Meat Loaf said in a statement that he would return to the stage when his health was better.
"It really breaks my heart not to be able to perform these shows," he said.
"I was really looking forward to capping off a great year and celebrating the start of the holidays with the fans. But I have to do what the doctors tell me so I can look forward to healing and coming back strong in 2008.
"Let me dispel any rumours before they start - I will be back."
The larger-than-life singer, whose real name is Michael Lee Aday, was due to bring his Three Bats tour to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in February.
Meat Loaf is best known for epic power ballads including Two Out of Three Ain't Bad and Bat Out of Hell.
He had heart surgery in 2003 after collapsing onstage in London.
The cancelled shows were in Britain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands and Ireland.
