I found it most interesting that I felt very lonely last night. I know I live alone, and spend vast amounts of time alone but I don't actually remember the last time I actually felt lonely. Was it because I had had company for the previous few days, was it a result of my shift changes and not seeing my friends very often, was it just a phase of the moon :-)Not quite sure, but am very glad that the feeling has passed...

mg, I know excactly how you feel. I, too, live alone amd most of the time am not "lonely" but sometimes it just gets to you and sometimes when you've had company it gets to you more. But you are not alone, mg - you have so many friends out here!
Thanks for the thought welshcakes :-) I must admit I did try and call a couple of friends and realized as I was going through the address book I was spoilt for choice. Didn't change the feeling though :-)
Think its all those things MG...though the moon cops the blame alot in my house..I'm upside down at the moment with night shift...believe me 3am can be incredibly lonely....
It used to get to me, being alone, especially as you say after you have a few full days, or for me when I have troubles and no one to share those...but now I have the grown up thing of 'All this to will pass' ... I still feel lonely but I know there is an end in sight...x
